End of the year gift ideas for teachers
WHAT. A. YEAR. Treat your teachers!
I know during a pandemic, the entire world has it rough, but there is NO kind of rough like TEACHING through a pandemic rough. So let’s thank our teachers who made it through this tough year with a simple, but cute end-of-the-year teacher gift basket!
As teachers prepare to wrap up a hectic year, remember everything that your child’s teacher has done for them this year. Even parents with kids at the secondary level.
As a teacher, I know a little something about what a teacher wants or needs during the school year. I love to do something cute for our teachers at the end of the year to show our appreciation for everything they do for us throughout the year. I know once your child gets older they begin to have multiple teachers. You don’t have to do something huge, even their favorite soda, a candy bar, and a simple thank you card would be appreciated!
One year a kid got me a $5 sonic card and another kid got me a payday candy bar with a note that said “you deserve an extra payday” and it was the absolute highlight of my week! It really is the little things y’all!
And again as a teacher, the end of the year IS EXHAUSTING! Mentally, physically, emotionally EXHAUSTING! One last gift to show your teachers that what they did and how hard they worked this year mattered is all they need to feel amazing headed into summer!

Teacher gift baskets
This year I decided to do small teacher gift baskets. And if you’re a last-minute mama like me or the last week of school snuck up on you then, these end-of-the-year teacher gift baskets are for you! And only took about 10 minutes to throw together after a quick trip to Target.
Now, I like to include a few “must haves’ in the basket, something beneficial to the teacher and their classroom, usually a gift card to amazon or target. This year I did Target, everything in their baskets is from Target! But the best part is that a lot of it is from the $1 section!
Also, snacks and Caffeine go a long way for a teacher this time of year. WE ARE IN SURVIVAL MODE at this point!
I decided to have summer vibes-type baskets and stuff cute little knickknacks into these teacher-gift baskets!
And these were the things my baskets included
- Cute planner
- Summer koozie
- Summer-themed magnetic to-do list
- Summer type candle
- Face mask for the relaxation these teachers NEED. (also summer vibes)
- Coke, candy, gum
- Target gift card
My daughter is in 3rd grade so she has 3 different teachers, and my son is in Pre-k so he has one main teacher, and then his teacher helper.
Side story about our teacher helper. During Christmas as I was giving my kids, their teacher presents to hand out he looks up at me with the saddest eyes and says “Where’s Mrs. Paz’s present? She loves presents!” Long story short, I didn’t realize he had a teacher helper in class and had to do a quick target pickup order!
Needless to say, we did NOT forget Mrs. Paz’s gift basket!
Learn from my mistake, ASK your kids who their teachers are or who they see daily!
Ran out of time to order something personal? You can still make it personal!
Lastly, we added a personal card from my kids. I LOVE handwritten cards vs the hallmark cards you can buy off a shelf. When a teacher has had a kid for a year that is now THEIR kid. We love OUR kids, and they will always be our kids so I love it when I get personal written notes or cards from students.
If I have ever taught your kid and they made me a card or wrote me a note, there’s a 98% chance I still have it!
Now for my son’s cards, I wrote something personal to thank his teachers, again he’s in PreK. And I especially wanted to thank them for their patience because he can be a lot to handle! (lol)
For my daughter’s cards, I wrote them for her, and she told me what to write in them. She had a lot of sweet things to say about her teachers.
I had both kids sign their names, and date their cards.
My PreK kid spells and writes his name correctly! It is the cutest thing! GOD BLESS his PreK teacher!
Your teachers will appreciate ANYTHING and everything!
If you think your “gift” is too small. I promise you IT IS NOT! Teachers appreciate anything from a student, or “their” kids. We spend all year loving these kids, so any little thing makes us feel appreciated.
I do not have kids at a secondary level, but I am a secondary level teacher. Here’s a simple cheap idea you could do for your kids teacher, and an alternative option from the teacher gift basket for those kiddos who have multiple teachers at secondary (which is usually at least 7 teachers)
The whole gift probably costs about $5 when you buy the items in multiple packs it’s cheaper. Which would be about $35 for all of them!
Here are the contents of the “smaller” gift:
- A soda (Again, we NEED caffeine at this point.)
- Cheezits
- Cookies
- Pack of gum
- Cute pen
- Personalize/cute card or note
In my opinion, well worth the money to show your teachers how much they were appreciated this school year.
Now parents, just throw a bottle of wine in that Target order, and keep it rollin’ because we are giving your kids back!
Happy summer!

Yes! I agree! We love getting gifts from our kiddos! Even a sweet note is so special. Caffeine helps though 😂
